whispers...

I am still a firm believer that CMR will not get rid of CWM. I really don't think CMR has it in him. I have felt this way all along, I still won't believe it until it happens.

As I still think this, I read a very interesting article that seemed as if Georgia/CMR might already be looking around. I was shocked to see this but the article implies that CMR might not have any other choice but to shed CWM.

I get a lot of emails about who could be the new DC. I have stated before that CMR would promote from within. This source seemed to think otherwise...

Candidates that could be...

Dick Bumpas - TCU

Everett Withers - UNC

Kevin Steele - Clemson

Kirby Smart - Alabama

Lorenzo Ward - South Carolina

Manny Diaz - Middle Tennessee State

Bud Foster - Virginia Tech

Tommy Tuberville - Ex-Auburn Head coach

What's my take on this? I still don't think CWM will be fired, I just have a feeling that he will still be there. Now, if CWM is recycled I believe we have a shot at only three of the coordinators listed above. This is my opinion only, I really have no clue...

Dick Bumpas - TCU --- I think this is possible only because he is on a small stage right now. He might be looking to become a more recognized DC and what better place to do that? The SEC.

Manny Diaz - Middle Tennessee State --- Same thing here, Manny seems to be making great strides with MTSU and he, I'm sure, would love to get the chance to run a big time program.

Kirby Smart - Alabama --- Kirby played for Georgia; I think if he would want it, he's in. I don't know why he would leave Alabama and Nick Saban? Why make a lateral move for probably less money? Also coming in to the picture here would be Florida State. As I posted earlier, Mickey Andrews is leaving FSU, Kirby was a Grad assistant at FSU, and so he would probably give them a look too.

I'm not a big fan of talking about "the next" DC for Georgia. I don't think anyone should be speculating this early, however I think it poses for an interesting conversation. If it does happen I hope that CMR really makes a solid choice, I am just afraid that Georgia will not pay appropriately to reel in the big name.

Small stage....TCU is close to playing for a national title and arguably the best undefeated team in the country. The Forgs would play Texas, ALA or FL head to head....no doubt!

However, I would love to see Gary Patterson and Bumpas (together).... both in Athens! Their passion is infectious!

You're right they are close to playing for a title...They will have to go undefeated to do so and TCU will still need a lot of luck.

A bigger stage meaning, if Georgia went undefeated this year, there is NO doubt they play for a title.

There is a HUGE difference in the programs...

I think you are right. Willie will be back. Searles and Garner may not...

Mike I agree with the Garner statement. They will throw Lilly in as the recruiting coordinator if Garner is out.

I don't see Searles going anywhere though. Kids know all about Searles and they want to play for him.

It will be interesting to see what, if any changes take place.

No way Georgia cuts ties with Garner and his ability to recruit. Not only is garner a great recruiter all around, he owns the Atlanta area.

Nice post.

I think you are right on target with the money issue. Honestly, I don't think Georgia will pay up for a top coord. the only guy on this list we can afford is Diaz from MTSU. Georgia is cheap.

I think willie stays for all the WRONG reasons...he doesn't cost much.

The rumblings I have heard indicate SS and RG do not get along. Furthermore, SS does not appreciate the job DVH does with conditioning.

A lot of problems and a lot of political/societal issues to deal with considering how many dominos are on the table.

I also do not think Kirby Smart's issues are not greater than we are willing to admit. In addition to coaching RBs, I am pretty sure he has others issues with Richt, similar to Searles.

It is going to be an interesting off-season.

Thanks for the info Mike!

I really hate to hear that about SS, I am happy that he is a Dawg. I hope he stays, it's disappointing to know that we have that many issues behind the scenes.
